Why this book

Graham wrote the first edition in 1949, two decades removed from personally watching the speculative mania of the late 1920s collapse into the crash and Depression that followed — an experience that shaped the entire book's insistence on discipline over excitement. Nearly every idea taught elsewhere on this site's Fundamentals track (margin of safety, intrinsic value, the danger of confusing price with worth) either originates here or was formalized here first.

This course covers all ten chapters in four parts, in the order Graham himself builds the argument: what actually separates investing from speculation, how to structure a portfolio you can actually stick with, how to stop letting the market's own mood dictate your decisions, and finally how to estimate what a business is worth and buy it with a real margin for error.
