Why this book

Every other book in this Book Club teaches how to find or hold a good investment. This one is the single best case study on this site for the opposite skill: recognizing when a company's own numbers, incentives, and culture are quietly working against the shareholders reading them. Enron wasn't caught lying about a small thing — for years, it was one of the most admired, analyst-recommended, institutionally-held stocks in the country, right up until it wasn't.
